This coming Wednesday April 24th, 2013 at 7PM, the Museum of Contemporary Art in North Miami, MOCA will celebrate the launching of the NEW METHODS publication based on an international symposium entitled New Methods / Nuevos Métodos that took place at MOCA from May 4-6, 2011.
Organized by Ruba Katrib, a former MOCA Associate Curator, the 3-day symposium examined the boom of artist-run organizations activities throughout Latin America that have emerged from the need for independent education for working artists.
At the groundbreaking MOCA conference, and for the first time in the U.S., the founders of eight independent artist-run organizations in Latin America (Centro de Investigaciones Artisticas, Lugar a Dudas, Proyectos Ultravioleta, Casa Tres Patios, Soma, Capacete, Kiosko Galeria and Beta-Local) exchanged ideas on new methods to approach the arts in the region.
NEW METHODS will be for sale in the MOCA Shop.
