WUM EU: Smart City Exhibition at CentroCentro, Madrid

Madrid.- At the famous Plaza Cibeles, the CENTROCENTRO has launched the first set of exhibitions for 2103 entitled "Smart City. A Day in the Life of the City," that comprises a total of five exhibitions and a symposium that examines the contemporary urban experience and the development of "smart cities" from a range of formats of artistic expression.

The CENTROCENTRO Cibeles de Cultura y Ciudadania, is seeking to become a space in Madrid devoted to reflection as an avant garde proposal in the fields of culture, citizenship and creative management of public spaces linked to sustainability, a smart and efficient capital with platforms of debate and artistic exploration. 



Curators such as Horacio Fernandez and Ana Dominguez Siemens, multidisciplinary artists such as Daniel G. Andujar and Gustavo Romano, and collectives such as Paisaje Transversal and NOPHOTO offer a kaleidoscopic vision of smart cities.

On the third floor of the monumental building, Fuera de Serie (on view through September 1st, 2013) is an exhibition that showcases sixteen projects with objects that "can be changed by design" highlighting theimportance ofcontemporary designas an activating factorof the economy, social change and culture which goes beyondthe aestheticandthe form.

Participating international and national artists are: Marcelo Rosembaum & Pedrita, Tomas Alonso, Curro Claret, Alvaro Catalan de Ocon, Jaime Hayon, Guillem Ferran, Tomas Kral, Hella Jongerius, Martin Azua, BCXSY, Florie Salnot, Hermanos Campana, Front, Scholten & Baijins, Max Lamb and Michael Young.
