Navarro's work is characterized by his unmistakable representations of cluster of cities that constitute a prototype he uses for his sculptural installations with a structure based on an imaginary urbanism which is a key aspect of his work, recently part of the IVAM’s permanent collection thanks to his generous donation of 515 pieces.
This exhibition is the first initiative of the partnership between IVAM & CIFO which consists on the exchange of exhibitions of their respective collections.
“We are very happy to host Navarro at CIFO and to have an artist of such caliber is an honor that will help us further the mission of ourt foundation,” said Ella Fontanals-Cisneros, CIFO’s Founder.
Consuelo Ciscar, IVAM's Director says that Navarro’s work has stood the test of time and has prevailed and asserted its place with determination and discipline.
"The new Spanish sculpture from the seventies and eighties which drew on the legacy of Spanish masters like Julio González, was characterized by the expansion of the field of sculpture installations to encompass installation art, and by interventions dealing with nature and actions on the body," said Ciscar.
