Another artist to be showcased this weekend at the first edition of Cutlog NY is Spanish photographer Romulo Sans represented by the 15 year-old cutting-edge, NYC-based gallery White Box .
Three months ago, the Barcelona native had his NY debut at the gallery in an exhibition entitled “Crushed” curated by Juan Puntes in which the artist presented a series of photographs depicting irreverent contrasting effects between the trends of fashion and politics while rendering a personal observation on issues extending throughout the world.
Sans, 44, has been highly influenced by his grandfatherJaume Sans whose sculptures and paintings that favored new ideas contributed to spread the avant-garde movement of the Catalan generation of surrealists of the 30’s.

In 1993, Sans went on to study at the Fashion Institute of Technology; he also opened an accessory shop in SoHo and launched an advertising agency for the up and coming NYC fashionistas.
Just as his grandfather, Sans spent a decade living in Cuba which has significantly helped him to focus on his creative work.

His experience working as a collaborator for Vogue France, Vogue Man and Details has allowed him to create his latest enterprise setting in motion in 2001, The H Magazine, an extraordinary combination of web portal, stylish printed guides and booklets that reference the new Havana that has been constantly transforming and emerging.
While living in Cuba, Sans admits to have constantly watched the English version of Al Jazeera, and an underlying quality can be seen in pieces such as Happy Meal, one of four pieces to be shown at the White Box Gallery during the inaugural Cutlog NY.
